There are 4 pieces of equipment I use to maintain my floor & upholstery. That may seem excessive, but they all serve a purpose in my home. If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know that I don’t keep things around my home that aren’t absolutely necessary. If I buy something new, I take out something old. I try hard to live a “laid back minimalist” life. I will give you a quick rundown of every machine I use and why it’s necessary in my home.

Shark Navigator Pet Pro
I love my upright, full-size vacuum for carpet. Half of our home is carpeted. We can’t get by on just a stick vac for that much fiber. About once every few weeks, I vacuum with the Shark Navigator. It has a lot of power, perfect for suctioning up the dog hair or crumbs that have sunk down into the carpet fibers. It’s a must have. Best of all, it has a self-cleaning brush roller, so hair and fabric doesn’t get wrapped around the roller. If you didn’t have carpet, I could see why you would skip owning a full size though.

Shark IQ Robot
I’m not sure if it’s coincidence or if Shark just makes good machines, but our go to robot vacuum is the Shark IQ. We have two dogs, a cat, two kids and lots of friends that our kids invite over. Our house is busy and messy, that’s where our robot vac comes in. We can start Bob (that’s what we call him) and he’ll take care of the surface stuff. We used to have an iRobot, but the technology where it tries to map out your rooms and vacuums based on that just didn’t work for us (although Bob has similar technology, he doesn’t seem to vacuum so randomly). We like Bob because he gives us those glorious LINES everyone loves on their carpet. He also transitions from our carpet to our hardwood seamlessly. AND he has his own self-empty base. At least once, sometimes twice during a trip he will empty his bin into the base and keep moving.

Tineco Floor One
Did you see this coming?? You know I love my Tinecos. I can’t explain it, they just work! My Tineco Floor One vacuums my hard floors (wood, tile, linoleum) WHILE it mops them. It has cut my mopping time by at least half. I used to dread dragging the vacuum to the kitchen, bathrooms, dining room, etc. and cleaning all the crevices before running the mop over everything. It would literally take up my entire evening. I used to have to plan out which days I mopped because of the time constraint. Not anymore! Now, I’m done in 30 minutes TOPS. The Tineco doesn’t clog, it self-cleans… it’s been one of our best investments in our home.

Tineco Pure One S11 Tango
Could I just use my full-size vacuum and not worry about a stick vac? Yes, but I wouldn’t want to imagine that life!! There are so many reasons why I love owning a stick vac even though I have and use my full-size, but I’ll stick with one… CONVENIENCE. Lugging the Shark up and down the stairs is no fun. Having to maneuver the hose to vacuum the furniture is annoying. Dragging it out and plugging it in just for one spot treatment, I’d rather not. Quality stick vacs were a game changer to the vacuum world!

Honorable Mentions
My Hoover Spotless is great for vacuuming up spills, stains, etc. I use it on my carpet, couch, car interior, etc. Anything that needs washed but can’t be tossed in a washing machine gets “Hoovered”. We’ve cleaned up spilled milk, vomit, dog urine, you name it. The Hoover Spotless is lightweight and it has a self-cleaning hose so all of that yucky doesn’t sit in there growing bacteria forever.
Lastly, I couldn’t leave out my Hoover GUV. This garage utility vacuum is a MUCH better option than using the ol’ shop vac. It mounts to the wall so there’s no tripping over the motor or spinning it to untangle the hose and/or cord. Ugh, I could have nightmares thinking about that shop vac! The GUV has a 30’ crush proof hose. I can take it to either vehicle in their designated parking spaces and it reaches! The suction on it is out of this world. It’s sucked up everything!! Best of all, it’s small enough that it looks inconspicuous hanging in the garage, it’s totally out of the way.
My husband and I have full time jobs. I don’t have the luxury of time. I need products that are quick and convenient. Owning all of these pieces of equipment just makes sense for our home. Most importantly, with the amount of dog hair and dirt that gets deposited on my home’s surfaces every day— one machine isn’t capable of keeping up.
Writing this much about the vacuums I use seems like overkill. But being intentional in maintaining your household is so important. And the key to being intentional is to plan out what you do, what you buy, what you cook, etc. Before you purchase anything whether it’s a dress, a vacuum, even A WHISK… you need to ask yourself important questions. Does this purchase make sense for my home? Do I have a place for it? Will it be used often? Living intentionally saves you time & money and most of all it’s critical to your mental health.
If you use any of these products, let me know how they work for you! I would love to hear! Or if there’s a different product you use, give me your suggestions!

Hmm, I haven’t heard of anyone else having that issue. If you click “Menu” then the “PDFs” tab they are located there. My April calendar is currently on the home page under my recent articles, but it will soon be moved to the PDFs tab as well. Hope this helps!

You have to click “Continue Reading” and then it’ll take you to the download. I kept clicking PDF instead and that navigates to the same page, rather than to the download.
