I didn’t get my life figured out until after I turned 30, within a year’s time I had completely transformed my life. Here’s the road map I used to get there (a pdf version is available below):
- Own less & find a home for everything.
- Declutter! Ask yourself, “can I live without it?” If so, donate it.
- Find a home for all of the possessions you keep.
- Adopt a cleaning schedule.

- Create a budget.
- Create a budget AND stick to it!
- Meal plan and stop ordering out.
- Spend 30 minutes before you buy groceries, planning out your meals. By the time Wednesday rolls around we are sick of cooking at home. If you take all of the thinking out of it by planning meals ahead, you are making it so much easier on yourself.
- Put yourself first.
- You can’t pour from an empty cup.
- Stop caring what others think.
- Don’t let others’ irrelevant opinions dictate your life.
- Brain dump.
- Every single day, take 10 minutes and clear your mind. Grab a pen and paper and write any thought that comes to mind.
- Plan.
- Failing to plan is planning to fail.
- Prepare.
- This is not the same thing as plan. Let’s use packing your lunch for work as our example. You can PLAN to pack your lunch, but let’s say you oversleep… life happens. But, if you prepare after you plan, you’re covered.
- Disconnect.
- Touch grass, go sit on the porch and listen to the birds, lay in the pool and watch the clouds float by.
