The Daily 6: Why “Just Clean It” Isn’t Real Advice

Your home is messy. There are piles everywhere. The kids come through like a tornado every single day. You look around and think, What do I even do first?

Most people in comment sections always have answers like:
“Just clean it.”
“Pick up a broom.”
“It’s not that hard.”

And honestly? They’re wrong.

Why Cleaning Feels So Hard

We weren’t taught how to manage a home. No one handed us a manual explaining how a house actually functions. So when someone says “just clean it,” it feels vague and overwhelming.

If you simply pick a random spot and start, you’ll spend two hours organizing a junk drawer while:

  • the kitchen sink is overflowing
  • the laundry is backed up
  • the kids have no clean socks
  • and the house still feels chaotic

Your time is limited. You can’t close your eyes, spin in a circle, and hope you land on the “right” place to start.

The Real Solution: A System

This is why I don’t “just clean.”
I follow a system—a small but mighty list I call The Daily 6.

It’s the top section of my 6/10 List and it’s designed for real life. These six tasks are high-impact, low-effort, and they keep your home manageable even on the busiest days.

If you only do these six things and nothing else, your home will still function. You’ll feel more in control. You’ll know exactly where to start every single day.

Why The Daily 6 Works

The Daily 6 gives you:

  • a clear starting point
  • less decision fatigue
  • consistent maintenance in the areas that matter most
  • visible progress fast
  • a home that stays manageable instead of spiraling

It’s not about perfection, it’s about direction.

When You Don’t Know Where to Start

Start with the Daily 6.
Every time.
No guessing. No guilt. No spinning in circles.

Just a simple routine that keeps your home from tipping into chaos.
