Feeling Overwhelmed? Here’s Your Road Map.

The feeling of being overwhelmed in our home is not a foreign one.  We ALL get that way from time to time.  We have busy lives.  We have kids, work, school, and everything in between all converging on our home every day so it’s only natural that our households overwhelm us.  So, let’s talk about how to fix it.

First, I want to say that I have written an article on this subject before so be sure to check that out.

Now, here are 3 things that I recommend doing to drive as far away as possible from Overwhelmed City.

  1.  Make a list of the top five tasks that weigh on your mind.  These will take priority.
  2. Set aside special time to tackle these.  Clear the whole day.  No errands will be run, no additional plans will be made.  If you work, take a day off or wait for a weekend day.  If you have kids, see if the sitter or grandparents are free to help.
  3. Never underestimate the importance of decluttering.  No matter what tasks you give priority, even if they don’t seem clutter related, they are.
    1. Let’s say laundry is on the list.
      1. The amount of clothing and cloth items you own directly affect your laundry each day.
    1. Let’s say the back door entry is on the list.
      1. The amount of coats, hats, shoes, etc. that live there will affect how messy that room becomes.

Having too much stuff is always an underlying issue with feeling overwhelmed.  Do yourself a favor, and never say no to getting rid of stuff.

Now, it may seem like there must be more to this equation.  But there really isn’t.  Just following these three steps will get your priority tasks under control in no time, thus calming your mind.

Try it out and let me know if it works for you!!
